The newsletter of the North Wales Geology Association is now at its 69th issue, which represents a substantial amount of drivel from the present chairman and a huge body of fascinating reading from many other contributors - including a best-selling author of real books. It is also a testament to the efforts of the editors (Keith Nicholls, Lawrence Rodgers and Rob Crossley) who have struggled to solicit submissions from members and non-members alike. Earlier editions are no longer available as the original DOC files were not archived systematically. Some interrim and early editions with no content beyond programme details have little lasting value, but may be included ( * marked with asterisk) for the sake of completeness, and we thank members who have offered paper copies for scanning.

Paper copies of the Newsletter are now in the minority as over three-quarters of members subscribe to an electronic copy as PDF. In less technical times the online version was available in living colour as an incentive, and the graphics worked much better than the monochrome, photocopied edition. It is my opinion that the more copies of this Newsletter that are read, the further our message about North Wales geology will spread. If you have any doubts, just use a popular search engine (whose name I am not allowed to use as a verb) to look up the keywords 'wales geology'.

Rob Crossley first made back-numbers of editions that he had produced available as PDF from the original MS Publisher files that he had retained. It was not the original intention to allow completely free access to the entire back-catalogue for the world and its spouse, but since there have been no repercussions, and we have not been sued for libel, it seems churlish to take it away. Additionally it is a safe place to keep the electronic copies as a backup - woooo, cloud computing! It should be noted, however, that the National Library for Wales, Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru, Aberystwyth have requested and will keep these as part of their digital archive for public access.
